Super Charger, Turbo Charger Effects?

will super charging or turboing a gt effect the engine lifespan at all? if so how much and does one or the other have a more dramatic effect?

with a stock gt you are safe in my opinion up to 400 maybe 450rwhp but even with that its prolly not going to last as long as if you just left it alone.if you get a very safe tune and dont run a lot of boost you should get some good use out of your motor. if i were you i would buy forged internals for your motor and then it will be able to handle all that extra power a lot better.as for which one would be more stress on the motor i am not sure but just taking a guess i would say a turbo. but i am not positive on that so dont take my word for it. you gotta pay to play so you might as well build a strong motor to handle all the extra power so you can enjoy it longer

if you have a built motor able to handle it..your fine...stock motor with s/c or turbo, most likely it'll be over 400 hp on a GT depending which one.

some say a turbo isnt as bad as the s/c because if you drive your car under the rpm that the turbo spools up at then its good. in a way it makes sense but if your motor isnt built to handle it your gonna always be on borrowed time

on a new motor, supercharger with a good tune and not driving it like you stole it everyday, out of 100,000 miles you'll lose about 10,000 miles

yea hes prolly right but IMO you just never know when you start adding tons of power to your stock block.it couldlast a long time or break when you least expect it.but if like said above you arent driving it like you stole it all the time it should last longer.

+1 on the safe tune. That's a big factor on how long your engine is going to last then would come how bad you beat on it and how often. Me, personally, I drive like an old man just because I have nothing to prove to any of the ricers around me. So, why do I have to beat up my car to prove something I already know. Just get a really safe tune and you'll be square as long as you don't go too much over 400hp.

or if your like me, you like to hotrod the piss out of it for the simple fact that you just love the feeling. i dont hotrod when people are around me but put me on an open stretch...im haulin ass. turbo will make more power in the long run but youll never be able to tap int the potential of the turbo setup with the stock shortblock

Say i get forged internals and all that jazz would it be safe to exeed 400hp? cuz the way i see it 03gts stock run around 300hp or so right? So add in cold air and exaust and im lookin at around 330 or so at least (if the stock 300 is correct) so running a s/c or turboing would put me well over 400 would it not?

03 gts are 260 at the motor prolly around 220-230 at the wheels.stock internals should be good till about 400-450 at the wheels with a good safe tune.if you are going to supercharge i say do forged internals it will cost you more upfront but its going to allow you to make more power and have your motor last longer. but yea with forged internals you can definitely exceed 400 hp at the wheels.

its not the turbo or supercharger that is hard on the engine. its the tune and your right foot.

i say left foot LOL. these cars love it there compression begs for it. with forged internals ive seen them hold up a 550 rwhp daily driven and live as good or better then factory, you get what you pay for! 400 rwhp on stock is fairly safe with a good afr of 11.8:1 it may live as long as stock less or what not thats all 90% luck. whether or not its a mustang they can live along time JUST KEEP THE DAMN OIL CHANGED!

Both will shorten the lifespan of the engine. The turbo is more efficient and will save a little life, whereas the supercharger is always "on."

That is all I have to say.
