Used 2005GT vs 2001 SVT

hi i am thinkin of buying either a used 2005gt or a 2001 cobra since they are close in performance and price. so i just want to know which is better. things like reliablity, which is more safe and easy to mod, performance, handling, resale value, bang for the buck, things to look for and avoid in buying either one, maintance, millage....... etc. or just tell me which u would choose, i just want to know as much as i can about each car before i buy. thnx

resale value on both=shitty depending on what you do..either way its not worth it most likely
the 01 you could probably find cheaper
buti'd say your more likely to find a more reliable 2005 GT then the 01 cobra
the interior on the GT probably will be nicer. its a newer car.

i dont like the newer models but of those 2 for you i'd say go with the GT

in a race the 01 cobra will win.

idk they both have there ups and downs.

i'd pick the cobra just because i'd start with more hp and it'd be cheaper

cobra, based just on the looks of the two cars.
cobra, based on the performance
cobra, based on you telling us the price is about the same
cobra it is.

well, for my vote.

I would pick the SVT as well. If you look around, I would be you could find a nice low mileage Cobra for a better price than the 05.

100% True Statement...I have seen 03/04 Cobra's go for less then some 06+ GT's...

he wants an 05

plus most ppl with cobras dont get it cuz it looks better the the GT lol...it might but not very noticable to someone who is only concerned with looks and doesnt have a good idea on performance.

with that being sed most ppl get the cobra cuz they wana go fast...therefor it might be hard to find a good condition cobra,,, but the GT is the same

so my vote also goes to cobra like i sed before

I know there was a member on here just recently with a white 99-01 Cobra with low miles in immaculate shape. He said he was having a tough time selling it. Do a search. Seems he was in VA or that area. Good luck.

/////subliminal message......think SVT, go with the Cobra....hand assembled engines.....go with the Cobra.......end subliminal message.

As far as the cobra goes 99-01 cobras are about the worst cobras you can buy. Not trying to scare you, they are still decent cars but fall extremely short of the 03-04 cobra performance. 05+gt's are a very strong platform to start with being the 3 valve 4.6 liter motor has been known to produce very high horsepower. On the other hand, mods for the cobra are very inexpensive and easy to install. The 05+ gt's have one of the most tempramental computers to date in a mustang and require heavy tuning for the smallest mods. Overall I say go with the cobra just because you know you can add mods very easy and more HP can be obtained for cheaper than an 05+
