Should I get...

Tried this on my old forum, figured I'd try here where people actually know a thing or two...

Should I pay around 11k and get a 03/04 gt or around 16-17k and get a 05+? Just seein what you guys think.

yea, some people from my old subaru forum were saying that the new one was cheaply made, but I figured Id post here to see. I love the new platform. I dont see me pouring too much money into it. No more then 5K. Unless I decide to supercharge it later. But thats going to be once I know more about em.

Last year I considered trading my '00 for an '05. The dealer wanted $13k difference. I considered it for a while and decided to keep the '00 and use the extra money to upgrade my car. $13k is a lot of upgrades. Your looking at an '04 difference vrs. an '05 difference. But still, $6k is a supercharger.

yea, with the last generation, its just too much of a pain finding them with low miles. I can get a 05 with about 20k miles for $16-$18k tho, so its not too bad.

3 huge improvements for the S197
1) The rear suspension is much better designed. Not so important if you're a straight-line kinda person, very important elsewise.
2) The 3v motor is much better than a 2v, and not much worse than a 4v.
3) Ford finally figured out to put the battery in the BACK of the engine bay, where it's not mucking up the weight balance so bad.

Of course, with the S197, you *have* to buy a tuner to do ANYTHING, so tack on an extra couple hundred dollars for that.

Of course, you could probably find a Mach 1 or N/A cobra for the prices you're talking about.

+1 you can find a 4V for the cost you can find a new GT. Excluding the Termi of course.

That's also twice as much as the OG poster wanted to pay.

Big difference making payments on $10k versus $20k

Save up, buy the S197 (05+), then put 4V heads on it. Then save up and put a forged bottom end on it. Then save up and put a Kenne Belle on it at 19 psi. Then save up and put the 6 speed conversion kit in it.

oops, there I go giving away my long range plans. heh.
