SES Light , but no trouble code?

My 99 GT just turned 100K miles, and a week later the Service Engine Soon light came on. I checked for trouble codes, but none were reported according to a borrowed tester. I cleared the light by battery disconnect, but two days later, the light is on again. Tell me Ford just isn''t trying to get me in for some recommended service? -David

The light wouldnt be on with no codes. Sorry.... Shouldnt be on with no codes. haha. If youre not pulling codes with a generic code reader i would suggest briging it to a dealership as much as you dont want to. Either that or live with the light.

Right you are. Turns out that since the code reader turned on when we plugged it into the OBDII socket, we didn't know to turn the ignition on - so no codes. Doh!

Was a P0442 - small emmissions leak - probably fixed when I tighned the gas cap.

Good forum, though.
