2 ?'s (Buying A GT)

Hey guys Im new here and I just have a few questions that have been bugging me.

1. How much mileage should I expect to get without problems from a GT.
I'm looking at like a 97, 98 or 99 but they all have around 90-100k miles. And I really dont want to spend more than 7k on a first car, but I really want a mustang gt.

2. I have the cash to pay for the car all at once so I wont have to finance it. But I think that insurance will be a killer. When you guys were 17 what were you paying for your insurance. And should I go under my parents name, get basic liability. or what?

Thanks a bunch

You probably won't have any drivetrain concerns until around 150k, though it could be sooner or later depending on how the car was cared for. I'd recommend either spending alittle more and getting a 99+ GT or going alittle older and getting a 95 or older GT. The 96-98's were turds, and while they could be made pretty fast - out of the box their pretty slow.

Then again, if you just want a GT, those are pretty much the cheapest to get.

Im 18 driving an 03 GT before i was driveing a 00 Wrangler insureance should go under ur parents name and mine only raised like 34$ a month. If your lookin for speed go ahead and do an older Gt but for ur first car if u just like the looks you could probibly get a much newer v6stang for the same price.

Before you buy come and post on here and we can tell you if it is a good deal or not...

I would stay away from 96-98...

Unless you can find a nice 96-98 Cobra...

You should be able to get a 99 GT pretty resonably...

if your lookin to spend about 7,000 you could get a 96 Cobra I bought my 97 Cobra with only 72,000miles on it for $10,000. GOOD LUCK!
