1999 SVT Overheating Problems

I have been working on a 1999 cobra for a couple weeks already trying to figure out what the probleme could be

it started out one day just got it out driving a while and notice the gauge going up

stop the car was missing fluid

put it in bleed the systems and still does it

I change the thermostaat didn,t help change the temp sensor ,change radiator cap ,change waterpump still didnt help

it does it only while driving standing idling stays good
so a change both head gaskets hell of a job
both gasket samed fine check the heads look fine also
I by pass the heater and put everything back to getter started up left it idling stayed good went to drive it it starts heating again but after running it 10-15 min does the same

any ideas I am out of them !!

Is it still losing anti-freeze? If it's not leaking it then it's burning it. Have a pressure test done on the cooling system.

Haha, ever think of pressure testing the system. Im suprised you havent done that already. Also could use head gasket detector tool, not sure what the exact name is but you put it in the overflow and squeeze it once the motor is warmed up and it turns colors.

Also: Tsb for heater core. The 2 valve motors had more problems with headgaskets, but its still not out of the question. I would pressure test it first. If youre loosing fluid and it doesnt show up, then yeah headgaskets may be leaking.

Good luck

Have you checked the fan? I had a similar problem... The car would begin to heat up after about 15 minutes of driving, so I installed a manual fan switch to the ECU. When I first got in the car and turned on the switch, the fan came on just fine. After driving for 10-15 minutes, the car started to heat up, so I pulled over and the fan was off. Just got a new fan 2 days ago and have no more issues. Good Luck!!

Maybe i miss read..... When it does this.... does it overflow coolant out of the tank...... or does it just start dissapearing out of the overflow?

Ok, this clears up alot then. I thought you meant it was disappearing as in headgaskets. I would skip the pressure test then and deff. check to make sure the fans are working. Just turn on the a/c and the fans will turn on automaticly. If not you have fan problems.

Yeah and if anyone knows why please tell me. but it seems every 4.6 no matter DOHC or SOHC always seem to have a huge build up of white pasty looking stuff in it.
