Bad Autometer Gages
About 9 months ago when the Procharger was installed, I had Autometer Phantom II boost and fuel pressure gages installed. At first the fuel pressure gage appeared to work OK. But then it starting sticking at zero. I would have to turn the engine off, wait a second, and turn the it back on to get it to work. The gage always read around 30 psi at idle. Fuel pressure would increase depending upon the throttle. The needle would swing up and down a lot. But then in town idle fuel pressure inched up. The longer I drove in town the higher the pressure. Sometimes idle would read 50-60 psi. At first it would go back down when I got back out on the highway. I had the car data logged and nothing is wrong. The Ford mechanic told me that fuel pressure was 43 psi cold and 53 psi hot. The A/F mix is good and that the fuel pressure did not jump around.
Last Friday, the tuner replaced the gage and sending unit under warranty. He said that they sometimes had problems with Autometer fuel pressure gages. Now I believe the new gage is bad. It reads around 43 psi until I go WOT and shift. Then the needle jumps all over the place and when it stops it usually sticks at 20 psi. I have to shut off the motor, wait a minute, and turn it back on to rest the gage. This is getting tiresome. Anyone else having trouble with Autometer gages? Are there any affordable good gages available?

when the mechanic did the psi readings was he doing them at different throttle levels? cause i am thinking that when you shift and change how much your foot is on the gas it should change the pressure and that nothing is wrong.

Your right except for the gage then sticking at 20 psi.
