I'm not 100% sure, but I'm gonna assume the auto can't handle 7000 rpm

Its just the rev limit ford set for the auto. When mine was auto I turned it up to 6200. When I did the intake and exhaust it pulled to 6200-6300 very nicely. If the auto couldn't take 7k the cobra guys wouldn't be running it. The cast crank can take 7k too. It just a ford thing, no realy great reason.

Both. A stock 4R70 will handle 700 ft/lbs. A good converter and valve body is about the only thing you realy need to do. The rest of it will hold alot. If your a pushing realy big power then you would want a built one, but the auto is not the limited to 5900-6k rpm.

The reason for the two different redlines is simply this,
03 & 04 Mach1 5speed came with the forged cobra crankshafts, the autos came with cast crankshafts. Hope this helps. |

well if that's the reason then why would Ford cheap out on the autos and just use a cast crank?
