IAT in fenderwell

I just installed JLT cold air and it was a really tight fit, took me almost 4 hrs to get it right. Anyways, I dont want to drill 3/4 hole for the IAT sensor and wondering if it is on to just stick it in the fenderwell, i found a hole that is perfect for it. Would this hurt anything? Also, curious what the stock size of the maf unit is for 2001 gt. Thanks for any help

stock 01 MAF is 80mm. you will not get a SES light if you shove it in the inner fender, as long as you have the sensor hooked up. it will make the car think its got cooler air than it really does and will advance timing and add more fuel to the motor. however, when tuning, it really needs to be in the intake path so everything can be done accurately.
