CAI or Cold Air Intake kits..

I have a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 and I have decided it is time to set aside the ford mustang stock Air Intake and install a new aftermarket CAI. Now I was reading through some of the threads and I was first thinking about buying a Mustang GT Cold Air Intake Kit (96-04 GT) from american muscle at cost around $ 90.00 but then I read one of the threads that said the chrome CIA are not the ones to buy because they get a little to hot. So I was thinking about buying the JLT CIA kit because I have heard good things about them. Now my question is Will this CIA effect my my gas alot? Where is a good site to buy JLT at a good price? also which one is better a RAM intake or a Cold Air Intake? Thank you for your responses sorry for the such nebbie questions.

the JLT you can buy from our vendor Trick Tuners.
the JLT also makes the most power out of any intake for the 99-04 GT's and thats been dyno proven.
your mpg will actually increase assuming your foot isn't to heavy.
the cai will net 1-3 more HP than the rai will but some people are scared of hydrolocking their motor because of the filter location on the cai.
Don't drive through puddles that are over 7-10 inches and you would be fine.

i highly recommend getting a JLT. you're right: it's PVC, so it doesn't heat soak like the chrome ones. and the intake tube is freaking huge. i bought mine here since JLT is local for me. i just drove to his shop and picked it up from Jay, so i'm not sure of the best place to order one from. it shouldn't affect you mpg unless you drive with a heavier foot after you install it. one thing i noticed, though was that my a/f ratio was leaning out because of it. i noticed it when i had my car on the dyno after i put it on. easy fix though. as for which is better, i really couldn't tell you. what are your plans for the car? if you plan on drag raciong the car a lot, the RAI IMO would be beneficial. you can remove the driver's side head light on the track and actually get a ram air effect as opposed to on the street with the headlight in. the possible problem with the CAI is that since ie relocates tha filter to the bottom of the fenderwell, hydrolocking could be a problem if you like to drive through huge puddles. i drove my car during a tropical storm through som big ass puddles because i had to and i didn't have any issues. hope this helps you out...

CAI or Cold Air Intake kits

I hope this isnt a stupid question, but will a chrome from a hard plastic cold air intake make that much of a difference? Also I just bought my mustang off a little dealership it seems to be running fine but I havent got it smogged checked yet. Will installing a new CIA effect that at all?

I also recommend Tucker at JLT also. I had a rai on my Gt, and I now have a cai on my Terminator. Here's his website, so check it out. New Page 1
