clutch noise
I bought my GT about 1 year ago. When I bought it. The clutch was acting weird so I ordered a King Cobra kit and had it installed. No problems until recently. Over the last few months when I start the car and the engine is cold, when I push my foot down on the clutch it makes a ringing noise or a chattering sound. It is similar to a loose exhaust hanger tapping on the pipe very quickly(but higher pitched and not as loud). At start up it does it alot but as it warms up its only when the clutch is pressed in. I am having no engagement issues though. Shifts are easy and smooth. Its just the noise right now. Any advice or input is appreciated! Thanks guys!

That was also replaced when the clutch was changed out. I suppose it could have been defective and gone bad but it seems doubtful.
Any other suggestions? Anyone?? |

Because it only occurs when cold make sure it is coming from the bellhousing area. If it is it really sounds like a release (throw-out) bearing. It could possibly be a few other things (all of which require trans removal to fix). It may be wise to remove trans and inspect before you end up putting in a new clutch again. Just my thoughts.

One other thing I can think of that is kinda similar is a loose catalytic heat shield or catalyst falling apart. The welds break on the heat shields and the make a rattling type sound. Pushing on the clutch would change the harmonic frequency and possibly cause resonation (much like striking a tuning fork). To be sure it is not this take a deadblow or rubber hammer and lightly tap exhaust if you can recreate the noise you know whats wrong. Another thing could be a clearance issue with the clutch ispection cover (not very likely) but I have seen it cause weird noises once or twice.

no cats so its not that. Its a new throw out bearing so i doubt its that. Its just on start up and only when the clutch is depressed even just a little bit

Hmm, that's weird. It sounds like a throwout bearing to me as well. It might be going bad.
