Newbie question. 98 cobra with 99 cobra tranny...Speedo fix?

I don't know if this has been adressed anywhere yet, but I just replaced my noisy and grinding 1998 Cobra transmission with a unit out of a 1999 Cobra. I went through hell of a time moving the rear tranny bracket and reinforcing the mounting points, but thats all done now.
PROBLEM:
Speedo sensors are completely different and my speedometer reads off the scale. I am here in hopes that someone out there has a fix!
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Were you able to get your problem fixed? I'm having the same problem with my 98 gt. It has a 99' transmission in it also. If you did get it fixed please let me know. Mines reading 150+++ in third gear at around 30mph with stock gears.

Hope this helps, but one difference is that the 99 and up stangs use a digital reading, in other words if you have a tuner/programmer you can calibrate the speedo on the 99 and up, but pre 99 the speedo uses a small gear on the tranny which has to be changed in order to recalibrate.

My guess is that you would have to check and see how the computer on in your car reads from the tranny. It may be as simple as a tuner/programmer to get it on track, looks like worse case you will just have to change the speedo gear.

Hope this helps.

Well the problem is the 99 trans are electr. speedos and the 98 cobra is not, it uses a speedo gear. Im not really sure what you could do. i would say get the cluster out of it but there are more harness' for the new cluster and nothing would work right. Im stumped.

I just put an older t45 in my 2000. all the internals are the same but you will have to change the tailshaft and the speedo gear. the sensors mount 2 different ways, mech. at an angle and elec. straight in. the electric gear on the output shaft has to come off and the mech. has to go on. i had to change the bell housing on mine also but not sure if you will have to also.
