A line lock won't beat on the rear brakes.
Is it an auto or manual? *EDIT* - You have a Cobra so it is a 5-speed. What I like to do is hold the brake with the heel of your left foot and work the gas with the ball. You work the clutch with the left foot. Once the tires start spinning use one foot on the brake and the other one on the gas.

LOL, that's on hell of a left foot you got!! But that's how I do it too. Right heel on the brake, toe on the gas, and left foot on the clutch. Hold the brake, rev it up a bit, pop the clutch, then let off the brake until it rolls just a little, then slightly more brake. The key is to use as little brake as possible so you don't cook the rear rotors. Make sure to turn of traction control too!

I'd just get a line lock.

I could burn out with my mach1 without moving forward and keeping my foot off the brake. It would stay in place until the tires got realy hot and then it would start to move forward

A line lock is the safest way and easiest on your rear brakes, you will not wear them out. Otherwise, the heel-toe method works as well.

I run the SLP and have no issues. Fairly simple install also.

I've always kept my right foot on the gas and dumped the clutch with my left then when the wheels start to spin i'd move my left foot to the brake and adjust the accelerator and brake accordingly. If i ever had to shift, i'd ease my right heel onto the brake pedal while keeping my toe on the accelerator and i'd move my left foot back to the clutch. I'd be sure to give it gas before releasing the clutch to keep the spin, then i'd move my left foot back to the brake and right back to the accelerator.
I think i'll try it the way you guys are doing it. Of course that was pretty much impossible before i raised my accelerator pedal to be even with the clutch and brake. |

or you can just rev it to about 4K, dump the clutch, then apply brake lightly, and roast them bad boys

I remember my first burnouts, so uncoordinated, it was embarrassing. Now I just do them without a second thought. Just bring the revs up, high-ish and let out on the clutch quickly while getting on the brake slowly, just enough to keep me from moving forward. back breaks last a long time, you will notice tires before breaks as long as you aren't mashing the breaks when you do it.
