3rd gear grinds? not all the time

2001 bullitt with only 30k miles..i was driving it topday and third gear grinded a little bit one time...then i shifted into third again and i made sure my foot was all the way on the floor when i did it and it still grinded the gear and it did this several other times with the clutch all the way down...then it stopped all of the sudden and never happend again the whole day...there is a steeda clutch and a tri-ax shifter if that matters at all....any suggestions would be appreciated

is it common for it to happen at as low as 30k miles?

'01... is that a T45 or a 3650? The synchros are pretty horrible in the T45s, mine will grind into 2nd if I shift too quickly, and it was rebuilt about a year ago.

The only other thing I would suggest is going to an aluminum clutch quadrant with a firewall adjuster. I know you can get a full setup (with or without a new cable) from Maximum Motorsports, I think you can get a set from Steeda and a few other places. I've heard that the auto-adjusting plastic quadrant can get out of adjustment in such a way that pedal-to-the-floor still won't have the clutch totally disengaged.

i don't think that's the problem because it only happens in third....and usually i can feel third nibble a little bit when i put it in gear before this happened. its a 3650 and i have also read that putting 3.8L trans fluid which is the capacity can cause this to happen also and that i should put 3L in instead...im going to the dealership tomorrow and hopefully they'll fix it....i hope my catback doesn't void any warranty
