2. for all those cops knew, that guy could've had a gun or a bomb or a freaking alpha unit on the seat next to him. and by the way, the Middle east isn't the only place people use explosives. remember Oklahoma City? remember a guy named Timothy McVeigh? yeah, he was American. he wasn't easily identifiable by the towel on his head. watch the video again, and you'll see the escalation of force. the LEO's reacted according to how the suspect acted. they used lights and sirens, that didn't work. they tried boxing him in. when that finally worked, the guy tried running through the LEO's to get away. at that point, any sane person would fear for their life when it's obvious that the guy behind the wheel isn't going to stop. at that point, the use of deadly force is authorized. the LEO neutralized the threat the only way he had left. 3. i spent 9 1/2 years in the Navy. i got out as a Machinist's Mate First Class. that's an E-6. so yes, in answer to the question it seemed like you were going to ask, i do in fact know what it's like to stand a watch with a loaded weapon and i am more than familiar with ROE/ use of deadly force. this could go on and on till MM withers and dies (God forbid). you're not going to convince me that the LEO's were wrong, and i'm obviously not going to convince you that they were right. let's just leave it at that... |

and there is nothing insulting about being a police officer. it's a job not enough people want to do, and it is a thankless one at that. we as a society would self-destruct if it weren't for the men and women that put on that uniform every day. in fact, when you really think about it, it is actually quite similar to being in the military. my father's retired NYPD. we didn't have the best relationship when i was growing up. it wasn't really until i joined the Navy that i could really see what the job was like for him. it really helped our relationship because we had a lot of stuff in common. if i hadn't joined the Navy, i'd probably be NYPD as well. i took the test and scored in the top 10% in the city. my dad responded to the attacks on September 11th. he spent weeks, working 14+ hour days sifting through the rubble searching for bodies, but mostly just finding body parts. he still has nightmares and has trouble talking about it. try showing a little respect for those men and women instead of thinking that they're beneath you and insinuating that any comparison made between a LEO and a soldier is "insulting"...

Your right there is nothing insulting but you know as well as I do the stress it takes to do this job oversea's knowing we cant react until provoked at which point sometimes cost U.S lives. I'm talking comparing these situation to that a a person hundred of miles from home! I joined at 18 I was very young fresh out of highschool just because the attacks inspired me to fight back with a cause I deemed worthy. You are talking to a guy who lost his own flesh and blood in the war. This is just a difference of opinion I respect yours however I do not respect the name calling, *pussy* when I was handling weapons at that age when most were still picking there nose trying to find away. They are not beneath me in anyway but the dirty cop's I know of personally have caused me to loose respect thats why I joined the service instead of the acadamey.

cops can be bad.
military can be bad. there are all people. the cop in that situation (from what was caught on vid) acted the same way I would have.. if you are trying to drive away with me on the hood of a car you don't care about my life. therefore the same goes for me. |

2. i never called you or anybody else here a pussy. i did mention "bleeding heart liberal assholes". if you consider yourself a bleeding heart liberal asshole, then by all means, feel free to act butthurt. 3. so joining the service where everyone treats everyone else fairly and justly was the better option? i don't know about you, but that's not the service i joined. it doesn't exist. should i even bring up Abu Ghraib? you think that some soldiers in Viet Nam didn't go around raping and pillaging and killing people without cause? if you do, maybe you need to do some more reading. yes, there are dirty cops, the same way there are shitbag soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors. you can't judge an entire organization by a few bad apples. i'm sure you had dirtbags serving with you at some point in your career. how would you feel if the American public judged you by the way they acted? bottom line, those cops were doing there jobs. trying to use the "dirty cops" argument isn't going to work. |

oh and by the way, having a little tape on your uniform that says US ARMY doesn't make you an angel either. that door swings both ways. |

The cop is a murderer. His adrenaline was flowing, and he shot the guy in cold blood. He should be prosecuted, but because he has a badge he is above the law.

I didn't know that attempted murder warranted a death sentence.

the police officer had just as much as a right to defend himself from being killed. |

no, the cop acted in self-defense. the idiot in the Monte Carlo tried to run him down- that's attempted vehicular homicide. that cop has every right to defend himself. he met the threat with equal force. clean shoot...

So 00vabchgt your telling me every one that posts a video of themselves racing on the highway, or on city streets should be tracked down and shot in the face several times because they are risking the lives of everyone around them.
