Headlights Go Out!

1978 Cobra. I hope its just a switch or something, but the headlights quit working while i'm driving. If while they are out i switch the brights on...nothing happens...the light on the dash that identifies that the brights are on does not come on like it does when the lights are working. I am thinking that i need to change that switch out. Eventually the lights come back on but its kinda scary driving with no lights at night I have noticed also that when the lights arent working that inside of the bulb at the bottom the light is partially lit. Any ideas?

It does sound like head light switch
