Your one of the few guys here with a Mustang II, lets see if we can get some more. I use to see them all the time, but you just don't see them much anymore. Good luck with it.

well, after a very long time today working on this car, i realized that it is going to take a LOT more work/money than i anticipated. The timing is DEF. fucked. hell, the distributor didnt even have a screw in it to hold it in place, so it was advancing and retarding the timing like crazy driving down the road. lol. I pulled the engine apart and it needs new rods. 5 are bent and 3 are clean cracked in half. it def. needs new lifters. it also needs new rings. They are worn like crazy. so thats gonna be fun, NOT. lol. also the crank is severally worn (prolly going to need a new one of them). all the gaskets are worn and some are even missing. It has got severe blow-by. the master cylinder is bad. the carb that was on it was shit. it really should not of been on there. it was a holley 650. i pulled the fucking thing off and tipped it upside down to get the gas out and fucking rust (no, not rusty gas), literally, powered rust fell out of it. so i put an edelbrock on there.I have no choice but to fix the car now. No one will buy it for what I bought it for (700.00). Turp, if you read this, dont take offense to this. But had I known what was wrong with it in Va beach, i really would of only giving you like $200.00 for it. Im not saying that its your fault, but the guy that built this car, with out a doubt had NO fucking clue what he was doing. He just bolted shit up and hoped that it worked. for example, he cammed it and did whatever else he did to it, and did NOT put a stall converter in it. Thats just STUPID. Was this kid 16 by any chance? Also, it has SEVERE backfire issues. He should of also gotten rid of that shitty Duraspark ignition system and put a nice MSD in there for 200.00. Again, not saying its your fault, but you should of never paid 500.00 for it. it runs EXTREMELY rich and also runs like shit now that I have time to play around with it. Its def not worth the 700.00. But, anywho, i got it, and now need to fix it up. I dont regret buying it, but I regret paying 700. Hopefully I can find the time to fix the previous owners fuck-ups (not turp, but the guy he got it from).

Thats sucks! When you are done with it, you will have a nice motor. Good thing its a old 302 and the price on parts are cheap.

Just to let you know if you don't already that 302's in the 70's have a different crankshaft balance than 302's of the eighties and later. Be careful if you buy a crank or swap in a later engine. If you do the latter you have to rebalance the flywheel. All I remember is the later engine is a 50 oz. imbalance. I put an 83 HO in my "75 II and learned the hard way!
