'74 1/2 Mustang Mach II

A buddy of mine has this Mustang sitting at his house and is looking to finally get it back on the road. He only has one problem... he can't find any parts for it. He's asked around and most people never even heard of the car and he also knows that most of the junk yards don't even like to keep them in they're lots anymore. So we're now looking for some sites or maybe even some good references as to finding any parts for this rare car. I'll take any help for this. Thanx in advance guys.

The forums at mustangii.net are full of Mustang II fanatics and most of us have been hoarding parts for years (decades for some of us).

There ARE some truly "rare" parts (like King Cobra side spats or V8 engine mounts), but you'd be surprised what you can scare up for a II.

The "74 1/2" bit is interesting, though, because the most important change in the entire production run of the Mustang II happened between 74 and 75. It will be VERY important to figure out whether the car was produced before or after the change before looking for parts to fit it....

seats are something he could find on ebay but exhaust is a pain in the ass.
mostly because the bottom of the car is flat so there is really no room for after market mufflers. but on mine i found you could fit them right in front of the axle, but its a tight fit

You got that right we hoard all the parts, but for seats in y 74 i used 86 tempo GL seats (look like the 85-86 gt seats but with full headrest not with hole in it) change tracks and bolt right in..... as for 74 1/2? mine was built June 74 so is that a Half? it is the 74 thought through and through.

mustang mach 2

I know this post was made quite awhile ago but I had to add the following.
Your right the 74 1/2 is very rare I have only found two of them in 42 years both were in the local of Monroe North Carolina,a town about 22 miles east from Charlotte.
The first one I fell in love with when I was around 12 and it was parked in high grass was told it ran but son never drives it any longer.
The other one when I was around 16 and the guy had a metallic sapphire blue with a m16 in the trunk lol!
Sadly I have searched on ebay for nearly a decade and haven't found one yet, they all are mislabled being the mach 1.
Of course Mustang did release a late model mach 2 version which hides the rarity of the 74 1/2 in search engines.
Another rare car in which later models hide it's rarity is the 1967 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500".
If I'm not mistaken the parts are interchangable both having the same chassis etc.
This one was for sell at a dealer in Myrtle Beach around 20 years ago with a selling price of $18k.

So what designates a 74 1/2? Does it have the 74 or 75+ header panel/gas filler location? Wiper switch on the dash bezel or on the turn signal lever?

I did a quick search on AuctionMemory for Mustang Cars & Parts and I found a couple of exhausts that I think it should fit on your buddy's car. Have a look. Good luck.
