FNG from the Heart of Dixie

Hello all! I've been lurking a while and dig the site. I've been driving full-size Chevy trucks forever and have recently decided I'm tired of driving trucks! I've been looking at Mustangs for several weeks now after thinking about picking up a Mustang for a few months. I've found an 04 GT, black and loaded, that I'm going to drive tomorrow and buy IF they get right on the price. Otherwise the search continues, but I am buying a GT. I've found a lot of good information here and have learned a lot about these cars.

Merry Christmas!

Looks good online. But I go to see it and it's got a few serious blems. Upside - 41,000 miles. Downside - unreasonable wear on the passenger side seat (leather), and some paint scrapes. Ten footer. But that's ok, that should be enough to get the price down to what I have in mind, then I can get the rest fixed.

Otherwise I'll have to wait awhile since the only other GT's available locally now are ragtops.

Overall, a pretty good car.

The blems:
1. Really unreasonable wear on the passenger side leather seat for 41,000 miles. Might have something to do with point #2.

2. Backseat seatbelt receptacle (drivers side) has been chewed by a dog. My guesss - not a Lab, but something large enough to fug it up a little.

3. Super scrapes under the tag. Back bumper will need to be repainted to look show-worthy.

4. Fake? air induction on the side before the passenger's side rear wheel. Ding! Probably not cost effective to fix, but has a ding there for anyone paying attention.

5. WAX! Piss-poor detail job. White wax residue in every body seam.

Now I've made it sound like a beater. It's actually a decent car, but nowhere near the 19K they are asking. I'm thinking 16K is fair considering the blems. We'll see in the AM.

Thanks guys! ChrisJ - Heart of Dixie used to be the nickname of Alabama. Up until just a few years ago it was across the bottom of our license plates.

You know, when you make a lowball offer and they take it without blinking you always wish you'd offered less! But I got the price I wanted and I bought the car. I drove the car a lot today, very fun. Not blazing fast but more than enough power for fun. After the paper work was done I drove straight to the muffler shop to get an price on putting an American Thunder cat-back on - the car is too darn quiet and Flows sound too sweet on these cars And I stopped by a buddy's house to show off my new toy. He's been driving a black Corvette for over ten years and knows how to take care of black paint. Anyway he said swirl remover will take the scratches off the rear bumper. I'm pretty excited about it, it's my first muscle car. Here's some pics I took at the dealership while they were preparing the paperwork.

Hey and Welcome to MM... and glad you're leaving the dark side, lol. Nice car, but probably asking too much you're definitely right. There are a lot of good mustangs out there and a lot of REALLY good mustangs too. Just make sure it's the one for you... then tell the salespeople how high insurance is on a V8, not to mention the cost of gas, the bad fuel mileage and the cost of repairs and I'm sure they'll lower it a couple g's for ya. Good luck and let us know if and when you get 'er.

Also - used to have family just north of Birmingham... love it down there! I'd move, but then I'd have to move my seahawks down there and you Tide fans probably wouldn't like me so much then lol.

Thanks guys. I've googled it several times but I can't find a road test on the 04 GT. Does anyone have a link? I'm just curious what 0-60, quarter mile, top speed, and lateral g figures are for a stone stock car.
