Is it worth it?

I currently drive a 5spd SHO. I guess its not honda slow, but its not as fast as id like it to be. Thing is, 1000 dollars (not including labor) in mods would net me around 20whp, which really blows. Ive got a 1980 notchback 4spd manual 4 cylinder mustang. I'm sure you've guys have heard this a hundred times, and i really did search for a bit... Would it even be worth it to drop a 302 into this car? My cousin says drop it in and weld the rearend. I however am a bit more doubtful. Will the suspension hold up? Will the rearend? I don't expect it to handle and drive like a factory equipped v8 but how bad will it be? Any imput is greatly appreciated... Thanks guys

first of all welcome, second, if its worth it to you, I say go for it, you'll have to change around the suspension a bit and the rearend will have to be beefed up and the trans... It will be a project but If your willing to it, your car will be a whole lot faster (and more fun)

there's probably a lot of write on swaps, just search for em, and if the 4banger tranny bolts up (don't think it does), it prolly won't hold long at all and the rear end isn't made for the amount of torque the v8 would produce, so prolly not much for that either, so you should probably have a junk 5.0 foxbody to use for parts
