Hi all - new to the forum, but have been an owner a Mustang since my first at age 15. I now hit the big 50. (thinking of a 5.0 tatoo but havent got the nerve up yet..) I've had 10 Mustangs so far. Currently have a 66 Coupe - 6cyl auto, and an 86 GT which is back in my garage after returning from the body shop. I decided to completely restore the 86. I'm hoping the 86 will eventually become a big dollar car - 20 years down the road? Thoughts? Second owner of both cars. To me - Mustangs run in the blood - see your first, fall in love and your hooked. Think about the muscle cars - Corvette skipped a year - Camaro dropped out of the picture.. (you know the Mustang threat brought them back - in addition to the Challenger) Ford has kept us going since 64. Looking forward to good info and great reads! - dave

Going back to when I was 15 - My first car was my dads 65 Coupe - 6 cyl Auto, sold that picked up a 65 Coupe - 289 auto & a 65 Fastback 289 - 4spd. (of all the cars I shouldnt have sold, that was the one) Got both for 1000.00 Coupe was a rust bucket, but quick as hell. The Fastback was in need of work, but rust free. Sold both - moved onto a 68 Coupe, 6 cyl auto, Car was beautiful - had an electrical short - battery went dead overnight. Traced that out and repaired - sold that one. Worked at an apartment complex which gave me first dib whenever I saw a car for sale - Grabbed a 68 Fastback with a 289 4spd - some rust on the rear frame rails, sold that one. Then, while dating who would be my wife - she liked the 74 Mustang II Ghia. So.. got one of those. What a disaster, painted it - looked great. A mechanical nightmare. Sold that one.. (no regrets there!) Moved onto an 86 Notch - 5.0 auto. Converted to a 5 speed, did all the mods in the book - sold it for a John Deere Tractor, cutting an acre of property with a push mower was wearing me down. Then I found a 66 coupe that was right around the corner from me. Saw it for years - my wife came home and said.. "You know that Mustang you like around the corner was just put up for sale".. I was there in 5 minutes and grabbed it for $1300.00. 6 cyl auto - Original owner - full documentation. Some rust, but from what I have seen through the years, nice shape. A few years after that I saw an 86 GT 5.0 5spd - 42,000 miles - original owner - $4000.00 - grabbed it. So - those are the two I currently own. Cancer put me on hold for a while, but now have a clean bill of health. After I bought the 86 I was itching for a new GT. I really liked the new 05 style, but they were out of my reach. I would up buying a 2004 Black GT leftover. Agreement with the wife was to sell the 86 & 66 to offset the price. Needless to say, never sold either one. Kept the 04 for three years, sold it with 740 miles on it. Turns out my love was the 86 GT. Took me a long time to find my true love. I'm on the fence over doing a 5.0 conversion on the 66. Trouble is I have alot of cash tied up in my 86 restoration. A totally restored 66 with a 6 cyl auto wouldnt be worth the money I would have toinvest for the restoration. I had two in college.. if you have experianced that financial burdon then you know all other spending goes on hold. One is done - still have one in her third year. I bought a 78 Corvette back in 84 - sold that last year to finance my 86 project. Thats the story with the cars - I'll get some pics in an album and get them posted. I would have to say I'm very lucky to have a wife who after 33 years still understands my love for these cars (she has no interest in cars at all) - I always say, better to know I'm out in the garage than out at the bar..
