New member from Indiana......

Picked up a 1989 GT convertible in June and I'm just now getting around to tearing it down. This will be the 3rd Fox mustang I've owned but my first convertible. I'm looking forward to sharing the process as my oldest son and I tear it down and put it back together.

Here she is back in June. The only thing that has changed is that it's sitting in my garage now. Hoping to take a bunch of "before" pictures to share before we get too far into it.

Are you in Indy???? If so, did you buy the car off a guy named Jason Downey?

Initial plans are to make sure everything is in good working mechanical order. I know from driving it yesterday that the rotors are shot, tires are crap and steering wheel wobbles worse than my wife after 3 glasses of wine. God only knows what I'll find once we dig into the car.

After that, we're replacing everything inside the car to see if we can get rid of the "bag o' assholes" smell it currently assaults your eyes and nose with from 10 feet away. Carpet, dash, door panels, rear seat delete and hopefully some newer ('94) front seats.

Car will eventually be white with black interior, black cobra wheels and black top. The kids call it the "storm trooper" look or some shit like that. I'm simply the wallet and toolbox for the project apparently as my wife who knows nothing about cars and my son, who could star on the walking dead with no acting prompts as a zombie, are experts in the art of restoring a car. My guess is that after the first time my son realizes it's hard work, I'll be able to reclaim my project car and build it the right way.

A young, stupid kid working on a fox. Isn't that how they all start?

I'm sure it will be a great learning experience for him. A couple screw ups and he'll learn to do it the right way with the right tools and parts real fast.

And since you're not terribly far I might be able to lend a hand.

Nice to know there's some support locally if I get in a bind. Thanks.

Thank for the welcome. I hope to be able to squeeze in some time to work on it this Winter between all the other projects that have been assigned to me.
