Introduction from Southern California
What's up fellow mustang enthusiasts? Want to introduce myself and my new toy and hopefully get some pointers from all you knowledgable people. I am from Southern California. Recently purchased a 1995 Mustang GT convertible. Previous owner took car to get smoged and failed. On the smog diagnostic sheet they recommend I change the EGR and adjust the timing. The smog diagnostic came up high in HC and NO readings. I personally did a tune up yesterday, I changed spark plugs, wires, rotor, and distributor cap...didn't change oil since previous owner did it a week before I purchased. After I adjust the timing if the exhaust still gives a raw fuel smell to it I think I will change the EGR prior to taking to smog check. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Starting off with the most economical remedies. If EGR doesn't do the trick I am guessing catalytic converter is next. Worst case scenario its the valves or rings. I certainly hope not. FUN CAR to drive to say the least. Can't wait until summer!!!!! One more thing this morning the car is driving extra smooth could notice the power increase. Going to adjust the timing once I leave work. Sorry I know this is a new member intro sort of got carried away.
