i have heard that the tri ax is a good shifter. i heard that it is spring loaded to shift from 1-2 and from 2-3. its definitly a mod that you can't go wrong with!!!!

How does it compare to a Hurst short throw? that is whats on mine and I like it fine. Its deffinately better than stock. I dont think its spring loaded tho.

I picked up my tri-ax about two weeks ago from Don at streetmotorsports $140 great deal have not found it lower then $179 anywhere else. the install was cake me and ss_silverado327 did it in about an hour total, the change it made from the stock shifter is huge, all the gears are so much closer and you can be confident in that 2nd 3rd shift. I do have to admit I have missed 3rd a few times all at the track, but I think that was just be trying to baby it. the only downfall I see to having this would be the extra noise that comes along with it but if that does not bother you then I would recommend it to anyone as a first mod, it was money well spent.

I'm looking at buying a GT with a 5 speed when I'm 18, and I've never driven a 5 speed before. Theoretically I know how, but that still doesn't compare to experience. Anyways back to my question. I have heard that short throw shifters make it easier to stall out is this true? Also I have heard good things and bad things about steeda shifters, but I don't think these guys have the experience to talk on the subject. Are there any other downfalls to goin to a steeda besides that extra noise?

The shifter has nothing to do with stalling out. Its all in how good you are with the clutch and gas. The only downfall I could see to you having one is that it would be a little more difficult to learn the shift pattern with a tight patern like the steeda would provide.

Shifter works great for me. I've got a tri-ax for my 3650. Can't imagine driving without it anymore. This is the first mod I'd do on any mustang.

The triax is a great shifter. It should be done as one of your first mods if you are serious about doing some gear jamming. I use to miss 2nd-3rd shifts but no more. Very easy install. Taking the shifter housing off is probably harder than r&r of the steeda shifter. I have buddies with the MGW and Hurst shifters that say they are awesome. However, when we go to the track, they are the ones explaining their slow times due to missing 3rd.

i would also say they still make a good amount of differance on the 05+ even though they are remote mounted shifters.

He's not kidding, the 2-3 shift does find itself.
It freeking jumps into gear. It's easy to pre-load too! Great mod +1 edit: I just realized I have the pro 5.0 not Steeda. It's spring loaded as well, and kicks ass too. |

Now when I drive any other manual car, it feels mushy, like I'm gonna break it. I can also never tell which gear I'm going into on another car. The spring centers the shifter right between 3rd and 4th gear, so you can tell which gear you're gong into by the way it's pulling. This should make it easier, but I did mistake 3rd for first a few times the first day. I think it's easier to learn on one of the spring shifters than on a regular one. Only problem is trying to get it into 5th fast. I can do it fast, but not nearly as fast as the other gears. You have to push against the spring, while going around the notch. I love my Steeda shifter, you won't be disappointed if you get one. |

i also had a steeda and its a great piece. the shifts a very firm and like others have said just jumps into thrid gear. ive never noticed any extra noise form mine but my car is loud as hell to begin with so it may make a little noise. but the shifter works great and i would suggest it alos as a great first mod
