Mac Pro-Dump Catback Exhaust
switched out my flowmaster 50 series 3 chambers for a set of mac produmps. the flowmasters were originally dumped and i put the tailpipes back on to quiet it down a little. well, i started getting bored with the exhaust and decided to go back to dumps, but something much more aggressive than the flowmaster 3 chambers.
ordered from latemodelresto and received them in about a week. excellent customer service when i called about them being backordered. The mufflers themselves are rectangular and resemble the "suitcase" style mufflers flowmaster just released. they sit much higher than the flowmaster mufflers did. they tuck very cleanly underneath the car and save a lot of ground clearance over the old dumps. the sound is something thats very different. its still got a chambered muffler roar to it. idle sounds typical for dumps, very bassy - more felt than heard. and as soon as the rpm's go up the cackle kicks in similar to flowmasters, but with less of a hollow sound and more of a (dare i say?) camaro-esque roar to it. its actually very addicting and i find myself revving out the gears just to listen to it. obviously its much louder than the 3 chambers they replaced. the dumped tips took a few days to get used to. maybe a week or so of on-off headaches and thinking i was an idiot for going back to dumps and drone. but now my ears are accustomed to it and i can daily drive it with no real problems. there are a few very minor rattles that slightly (and i mean very slightly) picked up when switching mufflers. change in the ashtray, the ebrake button, and the radio bezel sometimes creak a little more than they used to. but nothing extreme. the drone is something that a lot of people fear. if you are one of those types of people that likes to hear your radio crystal clear and have a quiet conversation with the people in the back, then dumps are not for you. they will increase interior noise, but not as much as a lot of people think. if you get headaches easy, obviously dont get dumps. if you have a girlfriend that hates how loud your car is already, dont get dumps. if you like to drive very slowly (bogging your car slow) from 1k - 2k rpms max cruising, you will probably hate the drone. its loudest with high load and low rpms. so if you cruise 5th gear down to 1k rpms youre going to get drone. but you really shouldnt be doing that anyway, its bad for your car. the appearance of the pro dumps is really what drove me to their system. i apologize if anyone wants to disagree, but most aftermarket exhaust systems for the sn95 system just have absolute garbage for tips. theyre too small, too large, not evenly spaced, not cut correctly, etc. i wanted to clean up the rear end of the car and i wasnt going to bother trying to find decent tips for it. sn95's look brilliant with dumps (no exhaust cutouts on the back bumper) and have clean lines that work really well with the mac system. the price was also another factor i considered. $225 shipped for my produmps. thats a hell of a lot cheaper than most $400 catbacks out there. alright, enough of my rambling. heres some pics and the vid: ![]() ![]() ![]() edit: just wanted to add that i recently went to the woodward dream cruise, and the car was getting a *ton* of attention from the crowds with the new exhaust. i went last year with the quieter exhaust and wasnt getting much attention at all. people half a block down were taking pictures and cheering me on after hearing me rev it up a few times, and got a whole bar crowd cheering from a decent 1st-2nd burnout. ive also set off or chirped literally every car alarm ive come close to so far. most of the time just via starting the car, idling or cruising speed too. revving just results in pissed off owners.

just wanted to update this and say that i couldnt stand the drone anymore. bought flowmaster stainless steel tailpipes and had them welded on. cut down on interior noise quite a bit. unfortunately now with the longtubes and o/r x, there is a drone just under 2k rpms that is really bugging me. looks like i might be going to magnaflow mufflers just to quiet things down.
final word: on a street car, run tailpipes. keep your hearing.

i just went to LT's and a prochamber, im running full mac exhaust from headers to catback and can say the drone isnt bad at all with the stock midpipe buut once you swap out to and o/r midpipe the drone goes way up. i dunno how the prochamber compares to the x-pipe with drone though but i can say i love my setup
