Pro 5.0 3.90 gearsHad the Pro 5.0 3.90 gears installed today (gears were $200 shipped from Pro 5.0, Motive Install Kit was $75 from AmericanMuscle, and install was $240 including Royal Purple oil), and I couldn't be happier with them. No whine at all, they're just as quiet as my stock gears -- I know a lot of people were worried about them whining, but as long as you get them installed by someone that knows what they're doing, you won't have any problems with them. And the 3.90 size is a nice bridge for the guys that can't decide on 3.73s or 4.10s. I didn't want to go 4.10s with a 5 spd, but I didn't want to put in 3.73s either and not feel it as much as I wanted, so the 3.90s are just right -- not too much shifting on the 5 speed and it has a nice kick going from 5th to 3rd. So there you go -- don't hold back from buying these gears anymore because no one had tried them yet. |

Well thats good to hear but you did just get them today.. Just so you know it was a mistake puttin in Royal Purple before the gears are broken in. Synthetics should only be used in motors, trannys and rears after the proper breakin period..

Well thats good to hear but you did just get them today.. Just so you know it was a mistake puttin in Royal Purple before the gears are broken in. Synthetics should only be used in motors, trannys and rears after the proper breakin period..
I know with the S-197's they come from the factory with synthetic.

any motor tranny rear end that comes from the factory with synthetics is put through a break in period b4 the synthetics are put in.
