I like the pic James...I'm no "pro" or anything lol, but it just seems a bit "fuzzy" or whatever the proper term is.

It dose have some noise in it, but that pic was taken at about 7pm so I had to have the shutter open for a long time. I did not have much light. Plus photobucket crunched the shit out of it. I willl try to get a clearer one.

A tad oof (out of focus) is what you were looking for. It is a Touch soft, but not too bad. The close plants which are oof due to aperature and proximity to the camera might be telling the brain there's an oof condition. If you look, the front wheel, fender well and side body lines are pretty darn sharp.

A custom white balance was necessary for the tungsten light (some cams have it as a selectible WB). Which honestly might have helped hide some noise. Maybe look into that M.P.

If you don't mind I will throw a small correction on it later and repost, see if you all like it a bit better and if you do tell you how to land it right from the camera so no post processing is necessary.

Thaks for the tip Emay. I have not yet got in to messingwith custom white balance. I normally leave that on auto, shoot on shutter priority and set my ISO at 200. I would love a small correction and some more tips. Thanks and Reps!

I will edit it and post this evening.

White balance is key for exactly that situation. When your standing there looking at your car, your eyes know what it's seeing and the yellowish light is automatically diminished. The camera doesn't have the ability to know unless you tell it. Truthfully, at least for me, it takes away from the scene.

what camera are you shooting with M.P. is it a DSLR? If so there should be a couple hard coded settings for types of light. Like sunny, cloudy, shaded, tungsten, flourescent etc. You can try those and see if it's closer.

To set white balance manually for the situation at hand, you can cheat a little (it's not the perfect answer) by taking a shot of your hand in that lighting. Then setting the white balance off that sample image is all you have to do. If you have your manual or need to talk live about it, I can help. Just let me know. Especially if you got a canon, probably take 2 minutes to walk through.

To be honest I only custom white balance in very odd light, and mostly during night photography is when that happens. So don't over think this like it needs to be done for evry photo. It's a tool for severe conditions.

I have a Nikon D40. I know the settings you are talking about. I will look at those. I will try the hand trick as well.

MP, here's the quick edit.

New-

Original-

Couple ways to get it. Lightroom has a white balance correction tool, simple slider watch the histogram and make your tweak.

CS3 photoshop, go to the adjustments menu, select levels, and with the 3 eye droppers shown select the far right one, that's your white point. Take that to your photo and select the whitest spot. Then select the far left dropper, and in your photo click your blackest point. This is the fastest way to a white balance correction. Unless of course you shoot it correctly which will save you hours upon hours of time obviously.

Forgot to mention, if your interested in setting the white balance spot on in those situations, then instead of shooting your hand, shoot a shot of a gray card (can be found at all camera shops). Sometimes called 18% gray card.

Same method I explained before, shoot the gray card and use that sample image for your custom white balance setting.

One thing to remember, changing camera settings (slower/faster shutter etc) means reshooting the gray card with those settings. In time it will just be second nature to do it and it really is quite simple.

I have a Manfrotto Pro aluminum tripod in the classifieds if anyone is interested. Offering to take a hit if a fellow member wants it.
