That's what I was told from my friend. I'll let you know by the end of the week.

does using an extender always blur the background? or are all the shots i'm looking at just shot with a wider aperture

A larger aperture (smaller number) will have a very narrow depth of field. A smaller aperture (larger number) will have a wide depth of field.

i knoww but does the extender mess with that?
i've heard extenders affect the image quality but i've also heard from people that you can get pretty clear shots if you know what you're doing.

SO WHAT ARE YOU DOING, LEFTY?

Yes it does mess with it, it restricts you. You lose nearly 2 stops of the lens' availavle aperature. In other words a lens capable of 2.8 gets restricted to 5.6 with a 2x extender considerable slower and low light photography becomes cumbersome. A 1.4 extender takes 2.8 to F4.

Additional info just seen on B&H, if F8 and wide your autofocus should work. I wouldn't be able to put that to use..

Yeah, again. I'm glad I borrowed this guy and haven't bought it yet. We'll have to see what she's all about this week.

Thanks Jakashh. I believe the photo you are talking about is in my next post, although it's a VW CC, don't believe I have any photos of a Jag. How did you happen across my photography?

Shot handheld as I was losing daylight..

D300
iso 200
1/50
F/2.8
FL 35mm (35mm full frame = 52mm)

It needs PP at the bottom as it has too much orage/red, but I'll work on that later....
