Here you go Weems...there are still 8 available. The lens will work on the D40, 60, & 80.

NEW TAMRON 70-300mm Di LD N-II LENS f/NIKON D40 D60 D80 - eBay (item 120376669775 end time Mar-12-09 12:05:47 PDT)

I love the lens and you can't beat the price. If you had the right conditions and better photography know-how than me you could get some amazing shots out of it. I wish the weather would warm up so I could actually use it outdoors.

What is this like a 1 time deal or something or do they always sell them for that price?

Anyway, ryan that tamron glass is slow as fuck. just throwing that out their. Its not a bad lens, my friend just ordered a 17-50/2.8 which shows that tamron has some sort of quality to it, cause he is very picky about his lenses, but 4-5.6 is SLOW. just sayin.

its a solid lens though other wise...

edit : here is what you need

NEW Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM / Nikon - eBay (item 200307425479 end time Mar-09-09 03:18:36 PDT) Its got a built and motor and everything, so it'll be super quite and its Fast, for that size.

New Tamron AF 70-200mm f2.8 Zoom Lens for Nikon D40 D60 - eBay (item 370157959216 end time Feb-17-09 20:58:47 PST) This one is good to but it doesn't have the internal motor.

but come to think of it, i don't know if your camera will support an HSM lens...

Cool, you can do some things on the cheap if your willing to get creative. The use of 3 home depot halogen lamps and white construction paper from the local hobby store will pay huge dividends in shadowless lighting. From there you just get creative with the camera settings to net the effect your looking for.

Lemme track down something for you as an idea.. I saw a very creative how to somewhere, gonna do a little search.

And one of these too... sadly Hoya, who owns Pentax and Tokina, hasn't put a mount on that lens that will work for me... but anyway... you need that one too

I've seen this done with a large card board box, with the top, and two sides cut out and replaced with white thin paper as a diffuser, and three desk lamps. Then for the back ground they used a large white paper just lying inside the set up... I'm sure Strobist will have some good reviews and helpful ideas for you too.

lmao, I will not be able to afford a 700 dollar lens for quite some time, I can deal with it being a slow lens if its going to save me 500 bucks.

Here you go:

A cardboard soft box and just two halogens, 50.00 investment- I'd get a third for over the top on tougher/larger items. However this shows the idea off well. I'm sure we will see some creative juices now out of all our new camera owners.

Damn, that seems to work real nice, we have a camera booth here at work that works really nice also that I think they paid 30 bucks for and it came with two lights, not very bright though.

Foot note too, when working with halogens, or any external light source for that matter, it pays huge dividends to set a custom white balance. Especially with the closeness with which your shots will naturally come out in this setting and the detail you will automatically capture within them. Yellowed shots are very un-appealing but happen quite often when learning controlled lighting photography.

Emay or Omz, how does the sigma rate up against the tamron?

Thanks Erin...I will pick up those supplies and build me one this weekend!

Weems...I think that is an every day price for the Tamron from that seller. I offered them $110 and they accepted. I believe the list price on that lens is $290. BTW...Make sure that the lens states that it is D60 specific. They changed the autofocus motors in the 40's, 60's, and 80's so alot of the DSLR lenses will mount but not autofocus on our cameras.
