Eventually I will get both, but for now, I think a zoom lens will benefit me more, as I love taking nature shots, of birds and things like that, and it pisses me off with my 18-55 not being able to zoom in far enough.

Here's my contribution for the day. These were taken using the homemade photo booth that Emay posted the how to on. The total cost was $21.00 and that includes both work lights. I used a 6.0 cube box with 11x14 square openings cut in each side and 10x13 square opening in the top. White craft paper was used to cover the openings and I lined the inside with white posterboard.

Not sure which setting was used on this pic...I can't remember. The keys are normally a white/ clear ivory finish.

A huge thanks to Erin for the info!

There you go cool. Nice work.. If your not using a custom white balance within the camera, now may be the time to learn how to go about it if the feature is available on your camera. You'll get awesome white in the backdrop which is the whole intention of a shooting booth..

21.00 outlay is sweet.. got a picture of which lamps you picked up?

I was trying to adjust the white balance throughout shooting those pics, but I never could nail the perfect setting. The pic of my Ruger is probably the best that I was able to get. Should I use fluorescent or incandescent? The scale goes from +3 to -3...what's a good setting?

I'll see if I can find a link to the lamps.

This looks really close to the lamps that I bought. I can't tell by the pic if the bulb is the same, but I'm assuming that it is. They were less than $10 at Wal-Mart. I looked on their site and couldn't find a link though.
