those HDR photos are way over saturated, and like weems said they dont look like genuine Hdr shots, although they could be. The original pictures are GOOD, but the PP's ones leave something to be desired.

HDR or High Dynamic range is done with exposure bracketing, my camera has an auto bracket feature and I am sure yours does also. look into it.

Anyway.

You take 3 SEPARATE photos. one under exposed, one normal exposure and one over exposed, then you take the 3 pictures and merge them you can download a free trial of HDR software HERE

its easy software to play with but since it is a free trial it leaves a watermark.

yea that second photo is def not a HDR, that was made the right way. You could never get an HDR with a moving object. And yea that first one is way oversaturated.

Look up HDR on google and it will tell you tons of info and exactly how to do it.

Here is one I did of a friends skittle.
Weems, you can cheat the system and the only way to HDR a moving picture is to cheat. That picture is way over cooked, but if it was the raw photo and he took that to CS3, you can edit and save 2 shots from the original -1 stop and +1 stop to do essentially a cheated HDR. It's missing a lot of highlights that way, but on a shot like that one you have no choice because exposure bracketing cannot be done since the car will be in a different portion of the frame in each of the 3 mandatory shots you'd need.

That pic is bad, has halos, pixelation and I'd personally rather look at the original. However, HDR is an art and that means everyone will have a different thought and perspective on what looks good and what doesn't. You all know me I don't like the over saturated, over contrasted, and massive halos on any HDR. I like them natural..

these weren't doing much for me in color, so I made them black and white and now they are so-so.

Thanks 93

The first picture bothers me a little since the driver's side was parked slightly uphill. It makes the pass rear wheel stick out and caused a nice big gap between the tire and fender. Other than that I thought that the car did look pretty good in the pics. I think that my favorite of the three was the driver rear quarter shot that I used the radial b&w tool on.

Unfortunately, the D40, D40x, and D60 do not come with auto bracketing.

I understand that, and I have done a lot of my HDR's that way, but it looks like he took a JPEG image off the web and converted it, just a little too over cooked for my taste.

I agree....there's too much saturation...but whatever I did it quick...the other ones I did are still fake but I think they look better.
