Beautiful weekend here, took a little time away from my honey do list to hang out with my dogs, get em some excercise playing some frisbee, and practicing my head on (moving straight towards you) shots for sharpness and clarity. Got a couple good ones - maybe a 50% keeper rate. 2 or 3 are soft, but the facial expressions and eye positions made me hold the pics even though they were a tad oof. Price you pay with my dogs, none of them take a straight path to anything, they are a.d.d.

(edit - one thing I forgot to mention, I shot at an aperature of 2.8 which is a very shallow depth of field for head on movement. It does test you, and I found I need much more practice to get that deep background blur and sharp eye's during head on movement).

1st is a Touch soft - Ai servo latched the auto focus, but she was moving so quick towards me that the area between her ears was the sharp part by the time the shutter actuated.

This is one of the softies:

sometimes they bring it back together as a team-

Roxie, the boxer is extremely agile for the breed. I call this one - "Making the catch"

This is Emma, don't think I have ever posted her. She's a mutt (unknown mix) and finicky like a cat. Uncanny ability to make your worst days fade away. Can't explain it, but she's 20 lbs of pure happiness:

Their beneficial, if I went away from AI Servo entirely, with the quickness of these dogs I would need to re-actuate the shutter to engage the auto focus for the movement (object coming closer to me and in a new focal point) Panning is way easier of a skill in my mind.

That's basically what I woke up too...and now I'm stuck in PA again

I'm going back

But yeah I didn't realize how good some of these pictures came out. Not to bad for my pops point n' shoot. That pic reminds me of a Windows Vista wallpaper

Be sure to use an aperature value in the 4.5-8.0 range to start. This will bump up your keeper rate because the area of the focal point is broadened for sharpness (Depth of field is larger). This way you get a feel for their movement and where the camera really shines. I'd start at 8.0 and work your way to 4.5-

That said the majority of mine were at 2.8 and it shows. I figured I could land em, but that was not the case.

Doing some mission work in Mexico...took this at the school I helped at. By far one of my favorite pictures I took all week.
