OK...I'm hoping that it doesn't leave a gap on the fuse box plaque. It was hard to see in his pics exactly how well it fit.

My fuse box cover came with the tape. I removed the tape & used silicone sealant to attach mine.

Cool, if you shoot me one of the original files of the car in front of the bright white back drop, I'll pull the exif data and help you get closer to a solid result based on that and the histogram. Just need to see what you were contending with.

Shooting with the sun straight above is a no no for quality shots, but it's not entirely forbidden. You can get some good stuff, it just won't be as warmly lit as morning and evening light. It will also have some harsh shadows.

Love the wheels! Those picks aren't bad at all.

I have that same lens for my Canon. It's a good inexpensive lens for sure.

Thanks for the offer Emay. All the rest of the pics are on the computer at home though. They're probably not worth messing with since the scenery isn't that great.

Is there any setting on the camera that will reduce the solar glare / burn on the paint if I am shooting in direct sunlight? Tungsten paint seems to be really touchy about which angles and sunlight you shoot it at anyway. I normally have to shoot in the shade, when it is late in the day, or when it is overcast for the paint to look good.

Get a CPL for your lens (circular polarizer) and don't skimp for a cheapy, get the multicoated one. Any photography store has them, to save a few bucks check B&H photo and Calumet Photo online..

I wasn't going to mess with the pics, I believe you that they are not worth trying to keep. I wanted to look at the exif and see if you could have made a tweak in settings that would have brought you closer to the shot you were seeing with the naked eye. Sometimes it's just a matter of understanding how to counteract what the sun is doing to the subject..

cool lucas,

i just got my lady the D90 for christmas. she freaked when i told her since it wasn't going to get there before christmas. there's a lense she is wanting for it also, but it came with 4 lenses and a bunch of other crap. i got it off of ebay with everything for like 1100. seems like a lot, but for that camera it was a damn good deal.

OK...sounds good. I will pm you a couple as soon as I can get to them.

I will definitely look for a CPL.

What would we do without you to answer all of our photo questions?!

Wow...

I'm going to have to talk to my wife about this. All I got for Christmas was the D40 w/ NO extra lenses...

I'm jealous.

Nothing wrong with your camera at all. It actually probably has a higher megapixel rating than mine.

yeah she had the D40 once before the army gave her (she was a photo journalist). that one got stolen. when i was asking her questions about things she thought i was just going to replace that one. i sent her a website showing her everything that was included in the package and she said "SHUT UP"

its not the fastest glass in the world but what do you care right? you aren't shooting indoors or sports so it wont matter.

anyway, congrats.... i know how it feels to own new glass and its pretty bad ass.

and solid info right here, a Polarizer is one of the few things that can aid in shooting in bright over head sun and not totally murder your bank. if you really start getting into it and are looking to take pictures with the sun actually in the photo you can upgrade to Hundred dollar NDs. but you wont need those too soon.
