Just bought 70-300 Macro Zoom Lens for Nikon D40

I just bought a Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Telephoto lens new in box off of eBay for $110.

My dad has this lens on his D50 and I've taken a few pics with it. It is definitely an awesome lens for the price.

Here are the specs on another site where it is listed for $295...

Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Telephoto Autofocus Lens with Built in Motor (Nikon F) ShaShinKi.com : Malaysia Online Camera Shop

I can pm the sellers info if anyone is interested.

Congrats! I have a 70-200 Nikkor w/ Vibration Reduction myself. It fills in for my 18-55 quite often. In the market for a 50mm 1.4 wide angle at the moment though.... It never ends! Its almost as bad as modding the car.

A wide angle will be next for me too. Probably not anytime soon though. I need to spend some cash and buy a Hurst shifter from James.

BTW...I finally had a chance to take a few outdoors pics with the new camera today. Everything else had been indoors, shooting the piano and die casts.

Will do first thing tomorrow. I'm heading off to a free seminar about the D40's at a local photo shop.

Grats! They haven't had anything like that near here.

Well...yesterday turned out to be a big disappointment. The location that I was given for the seminar was incorrect so I ended up missing it, and the few photos that I took yesterday looked like crap.

I made the mistake of shooting with the sun too far overhead and right next to a glaring white backdrop...not a good combo. I didn't really have a choice since I was taking the pics on my lunch hour, but I should have at least found some shade. The paint on my car looked terrible from all of the glare and solar burn. I only took a few pics but pretty much all of them weren't salvageable. Here are the only three that even looked decent. I had to change them to black and white and raise the contrast so they look nothing like the actual shot...

Sorry guys.

quick sugestion is to not take photos on parking lines. a lot of people do it and it is a big no no! Plain asphalt is the way to go. also no light poles or fences in the back round. I wish i still had the article. There was a three page write up about it in a mag that was very helpful.

Good advice. Normally I don't. Like I said...I just had a couple minutes on my lunch hour so I stopped next to a warehouse by my work just to test out the camera. If you're dealing with asphalt, parking space lines do just ruin the pic. The warehouse parking lot that I normally take pics in was sold so I just found the next closest vacant one.

Thanks Weems. Hopefully I can take some time in the next few days and take some better ones. It's hard this time of year since it gets dark early, the weather's bad, and everything's brown and ugly.

Wow Dave...your camera was less than $110?!?! I guess I didn't catch that the other day. That is a steal.

OK...now I feel a little better. The list price on the lens was $282 so I saved a little money.

BTW...did your plaques come with any adhesive backing or anything?
