Engine bay

So.. decided to spice up the engine bay some. I painted my upper intake, and repainted the valve covers. The driver side needs to be repaired due to a mechanic scuffing it up (). Also added some more wireloom and painted the radiator cover and headliner black... what ya think?

What did you use to clean the radiator hose up and make it nice and shiny? I clean mine, but then after it dries it still looks dull as shit

Used Emay's guide using degresser and tire foam. Works good for a quick shine, however I like to use armor all on the black parts for a more uniform look. With the Tire foam you can see where the foam dripped off.

Thanks for the compliments all. Trying to do everything I can for the show coming up. I Realllllly want to place this year.

I followed Emay's guide also, it just doesn't stay shiny

Engine bay looks nice bro. I'm considering doing some under the hood dressup. But i think i'll be powder coating instead of just painting. The valve covers are metal correct? I think i remember seeing a thread about you sanding them down to a polished state

Yes they are metal. I would of left them polished but it just did not look good. It blended in with the engine to much. I would love to be able to powder coat.. just do not know the steps needed or the tools.

Hmmm...Well i've been toying with the options. I was thinking i might polish the valve covers, then also polish my supercharger (eaton m112 off 03-04 cobras) and maybe polishing other bits and ends around here and there. Or im going to do what you did with the red and black (powdered of course).

If i get my powder coating setup and your still interested just get the powder and pay shipping and i would hook you up

Hey man that sounds like a plan. The polishing looks good... however it is VERY time consuming and hard to get that perfect shine. I went up to 2000 grit. I should of went a bit higher and buffed it but I did not.

The valve covers have imperfections in the metal also. There are areas that the metal dips in a bit. I suppose it is from where they were molded together. You can not sand them down easy. I took a orbital sander to one and smoothed some of them out however.

Lookin' good, I agree with the use of Amorall, I used it on the black plastics after doing Emay's write-up.

I have plenty of tools used to sand metals down and get them perfect, so im not too worried about that. One of the biggest pain in the asses i for-see is polishing the eaton...Its big and going to take the longest
I dont plan on using sandpaper until the very end when i want to make it shine. I'll be using some chemicals along with a wire brush on my dremel

I wont be getting the powder coating setup until the end of the s/c project, so it might be a couple months. I'll let you know whats up when i do get it though
