Clayed and polished my car and new camera

I felt like being productive, so I clayed and polished the car. Then since I bought a Nikon D40 this weekend I decided to try to take a picture. Now I have NEVER used anything but a point and shoot, and I have not retouched these at all yet. Once I can reinstall Photoshop cs on this computer I will play with them. Plus I need a lot of practice with this camera. I can't wait to get my new lenses and filters.

Any tips from those of you with experience would be great. Thanks.

It's my roommates. 6" suspension lift, 6" body lift sittin on 38's. Makes my car look like a toy in the picture.

Great pics man. 4lift (I think that's his name) had recommended to Graves and I Adobe LightRoom. I've been toying with it and holy shit use that for editing. I can get it for free too if you need it

Emay would say don't have any obstructing objects behind your point of interest. In this case, the pic with the flagpole sticking out of the car, that's a no-no. I'ma learnin'.

So if I wanted to have the flag in the picture, should I have set it off to the side of the vehicle?

I suppose, have wider angled shot, and in my opinion it would look better viewing the car from a different angle if you want the flag as well, like more of a strait on shot with the flag to the side, rather than the side of the car with the flag at the front or rear.

And I'm not a photographer by any means, I need a new camera badly, I have an interest in photography and nice art work, but as far as settings and the how-to's I don't know much. Emay is real good and always has good advice, I'm sure he'll be around this thread sometime or shoot him a PM.

Only thing I can suggest is to not shoot the car in direct sunlight. I think you did well, but it sometimes makes them look a bit over exposed. If you must shoot in sunlight, then get yourself a circular polarizer. It makes a world of difference.

I have Lightroom 2 and CS3 and I prefer CS3 any day of the week, but thats just me personally.

Thanks. I have FRPP. However they are just rebranded Eibach Prokit.

The lighting really sucked I know. I was just really excited to try out the camera since the car was nice and clean. I did order a polarizer today though. Hopefully it will be in soon.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I know I need to shoot in a less busy place as well. To much going on in the picture. I am learning. lol
