2007 Lamborghini Gallardo


This vehicle is owned by the same owner of the Range Rover I did. I started this one this morning at about 9:30 and went untill 9:30 tonight. I still have a LITTLE bit left to do, but for the most part it is finished. I just have to make a few Ultrafina passes on the passenger side and seal/wax the passenger side and double check all the little things.

This vehicle must have been clayed no more than a month ago or so. The paint was EXTREMELY clean and free of debris.



Process:



Prep:
Washed via TBM Meguiar's Gold Class and Cobra Bone
Wheels/ wheel wells done with APC, various brushes and a wheel dedicated mitt
Clayed with Meguiar's Mild Clay and water



Polisher/Pads:
Porter Cable 7428 Rotary
3M Superbuff III Wool pad
4" LC Purple Foamed Wool pad
LC Kompressor White pad
LC CCS Blue pad
LC Spot Buff CCS White pad



Polishes:
Meguiar's M105
Meguiar's M205
3M Ultrafina




Protection:
Collinite 845



LSP:
AutoGlym HD wax 2 coats



Wheels:
Meguiar's Hyper Dressing 3:1
Wheel Wax




Before pictures do no justice. The car was extremely clean.



During:










My MF was linting. Must've been something else in the washer left from other clothes prior.




Fixing the hack artists mistakes.







Can't fix this one. It's a burnt edge. Sorry for being out of focus. Again, this is the hacks doings, no mine. Tom knew about them prior to me getting to it.





After:

Money shots will be taken tomorrow. Again with the blurryness. I need a new point and shoot and plan on buying one when I get paid tomorrow for all this detailing stuff.

Thanks man. They are truley works of art man. It's unreal just how far behind my car is compared to this

The vert top barely comes to my waist, so I've been sitting down and using the buffer for most of the vehicle.

To keep from polishing areas that don't need to be touched. Edges for one. You always tape the edge of the panel that you are not working on. This helps prevent burns (mainly caused by a rotary buffer) and will also help with keeping polishes and waxes out of the cracks.

The one picture that has the burn on the door handle is there because the previous detailer did not tape his areas correctly and also tried to use a rotary on a door handle. While it's possible, it's pretty fucking hard and need to taken with extreme caution. I used the Blue pad with Ultrafina at 1000 rpm (lowest speed on my rotary) on the door handles, but that is my lowest cut como and is only for the gloss. Most damage will be caused by your most aggressive combo which is often times a wool pad and a compound.

Also, the newspaper is covering those vents because on these cars, if you get polish or wax on those, you'll be there for hours scratching your head trying to figure out how to get it out. They're very soft, unlike our honeycomb. I was given that warning by a guy who has been doing this for 25 years and has done many of them. I'm assuming he made the mistake once. Dunno though.

I've never gotten past using my PC7424. Its done some justice to the swirls on my car but not enough to correct the paint. Mainly its just been a beginners tool for me to practice with.

I get excited looking at other people detail work from detailing sites like Autopia and Adam's Forums and then when I try it I get frustrated that it doesn't look near as good. I'm just impatient when it comes to making my paint pop out.
