finally. it's been on my to-do list since i got my car, and today i was just sitting around and said fuck it, i'm gonna go get my windows tinted. went to a local shop, talked to the owner, and 2 hours later i was out. i got 20% all around except for the windshield. i love the darkness, but the tint is slightly less than perfect.. they told me to give it a couple of months to "settle"

they gave me a lifetime guarantee and said if i wasn't 100% happy with it, to bring it back and they'd do it over again. i can't complain. it's just gonna be torture not being able to roll my windows down for 2-3 days. i'm thinking about maybe painting my side emblems black, too.. opinions?

my car needs a good detail.. i washed it today, but i've yet to give it a really good cleaning

did they put a black strip thats not a tint, just a blackout strip, over the top rear window, where the defroster meets the roofline.....?

good guess.. they couldn't get it to stick near the top where the defroster is at, so they asked if i wanted them to just cut it.. i looked it over, and decided that since it'd be unnoticeable unless you were actually looking for it, but then they decided to sand it down with really fine sand paper, then it stuck just fine.. they said that happens alot with mustangs since the glass is kinda curved

i'm not worried about it though, i don't have a problem taking it back and making them redo it if it starts peeling

about that.....

i talked to the owner and since i couldn't decide on the darkness level, he showed me his suburban that had 32% on the front and 20% on the rear.. i asked if he had anything in between, and he said no

so i pulled my car around into the garage, then he said "oh btw, i found 22% tint that we're gonna put on" i said "nah, i think i'll just go with 20%" he said ok..

then, another guy who couldn't speak english walked up with the tint already cut.. i said "that's 20%, right?" he said "huh? oh. yeah."

so it could be 20% or 22%. lol

if it starts peeling, and you bring it back, make sure you have them put the vynnil strip acrosss the top... any good tint shop knows about that problem of it peeling, and great tint shop would know what the fix is.

i had it on my 03gt, and i know other members here have it on there's, hopefully someone will post a pic up, so u have something to refrence if it ever happens

That will look good. I'll also suggest making the exhaust pipes black and possibly the small section on the back bumper at the bottom between the pipes black also. Smoked headlights and tinted tails will be great too.

Edit: I'd also probably go with red caliper paint.

All of these would be pretty cheap visual mods...excluding the headlights.

It really looks cool now though.

thanks man, it sounds like me and you are on the same page. i just told my dad yesterday that my plans for the car are to finish the hood (eventually paint the whole car.. it's not that bad, i'm just not 100% happy with it) paint the calipers red, possibly paint the emblems, and black rear bumper inserts.

i thought about tinting the tails and painting that strip at the bottom of the bumper, but i didn't know if that would be too much black or not. also, i think it'd look good if i painted my side emblems, but what about the front emblem? would it look out of place if the other two were black? should i paint it too?

and for the headlights, i can't decide if i want them smoked or if i just want clear sidemarkers

i really like your idea about painting the tailpipes too..
