the 3rd picture from your first post was ok, and the first one in this last one is better. try to put the cross on something that will take up the entire background, it will look better if all you see is the cross and black background

and no one's said this yet, but try something different with the chain. like roll it up, have it in a circle, or take it off and get just the cross, any will look better than it just bunched up under the cross.

Yea if i do more still shots like this with things i am probobly going to look for a larger desk type thing made out of the same thing my speaker is. I like the fact that it shows ups as not just black but isn't to far from it. I have to work tomorrow so pics wont be up till tomorrow night.

I have a home made.... light box.. I guess you could call it..

I googled up a picture of one.

. If you want to take pictures of smaller objects, you could try it out.. its really really cheap to make. It disperses the light evenly over the object.

a cardboard box.. and paper.. and then 3 of the same type of light .. it can be 3 lamps.. or whatever.

obviously can be however big you want it to be. Mine is only about a foot tall 10 inches wide.

I mean.. I know you are only using a point & shoot.. but hey whatever it doesn't matter.

I haven't messed with it to much but i am pretty sure it takes great out door pics or high light pics. I took a few outside and they were clear as day i could see almost every blade of grass.

I sent you a mile long PM. You're welcome to post it if you want to see if other opinions are different or similar to mine. I skipped over what I'd already read that had been fully address (ie ditch the crappy light)

The second picture are better in the sense, the lighting is better. But you don't have to be conservative with lighting. You can have interesting pictures with interesting light sources, you just have to learn how to use it correctly.
