Need serious help picking a color to paint my stang.

Well I don't have any pictures showing exactly the problem but just from constant highway driving my clear coat is coming off my front bumper and it looks terrible. Not many other people notice it but I do and its bugging the shit out of me. So I have decided I need to get my entire car painted and I was thinking of going with a different color to make me feel like I have a brand new car again. So I am turning to you guys at MM to help me pick it! I have been in love with comp orange and mineral gray. But I want to see other possibilities. It's an 01 6er so getting comp orange wouldnt match the years it was available and such but I don't really care. Just show me some pics of other stangs in other colors that aren't ALWAYS seen on the streets (black, silver) Mine is silver right now and a picture is included below. What color do you guys think would look best with my rims and I might even be changing to either black or gun metal rims. Thanks guys

PS: Has anyone ever used Maaco to get their cars painted? I see they offer their "ambassidor paint service" for $300 and just seeing vague details about it, it says they "paint the exterior with an industry workhouse, High grade automotive enamel." Does this sound like it's not good? I mean its only $300 and money is sort of a concern right now. And I don't want something that is going to come out shitty or not last. So I was also asking about that. Thanks all.

Statistically speaking... black is the fastest color.

Lol I have thought of black. But I was thinking something other than black this is actually my first car I have owned that wasn't black. I am still leaning towards comp orange. But not quite sure.

yea sonic blue is the shiz! you could also try something orginal like a lambo green? or something like that but if you are driving many highway or in city lots of traffic miles you might want to look into helicopter tape as a back up plan so your paint doesnt get rock chips!!

I would get a hood before you paint it, and any body kit your looking at get it now. It will be alot better looking and cheaper to get the new parts now and paint them along with the car

Do NOT.... Do NOT .... got a paint job from maaco. Think about it man... $300? Really? The paint alone cost more than that. Its a hackjob of a paint service.

Your lookin at 4 digits for a good paint job...

Yea I just read a lot of shitty reviews about them forgot to post about them being out of the question. I thought about installing the body mods and having the local trade school do it. All I have to pay for is supplies and $15. They are watched by a professional through the whole thing and I have seen some cars that they have done that came out looking perfect. Thanks for the reminder Matt I was thinking about getting a Cowl or Cobra hood but not sure, Maybe even a Mach 1 hood. And a Cobra front bumper. I am trying to picture my car in comp orange with a Mach 1 hood, and a Cobra front bumper with maybe a mach 1 chin spoiler.

I got the 97 gt painted at maaco. I didnt get the 300 dollar paint job though. The one in the middle I believe. But I hope your not expecting a clear coat.... for 300 bucks you get the color you picked and two coats. Make sure you specify color btw. My sonic blue turned out to be a 91 mitsubishi color when it came time to paint other things....

Maaco shops, from what I've heard are pretty hit or miss. I mean the shop near me does fantastic work, I was recommended there by a friend who's dad restores cars and gets all his paint work done there, but that might not be the case at yours.

Just see if you can find some people who have had their cars painted there, and how happy they are with it, first.

But don't get the 300$ job. The best deal is really the like 6-700$ job.

Hmm I suppose its worth to check it out. If anything I would just save a little more and get their "signature" package which on their website is "they paint the exterior with a two-step application process of base coat/clear coat technology, duplicating the "factory" look, color and gloss. Ideal for metallic finishes. State of the art for both look, durability and maintence." I know they have "show cars" on their lots that are suppose to represent their different packages but everyone knows they take extra time on those ones to make them look better to attract customers. So I will probably pop in from time to time to see actual customer cars and maybe ask them what package they got and such. As for the wrong color, I will make sure I give them a color code and everything and probably get a written agreement saying they are painting it blah color, include color code and if they dont get the right color then they get to re-do it for free

Hmmm wouldn't comp orange with a black hood look a little ricey though? Maybe with a black wing too. Think I need to head over to the chop shop quick and see if anyone can make something like that for me.
