Engine shots!

yeah, what they all said.... i do mine once a month too. spray simple green, then mist it all off and towel it off. i only covered my alternator, fuse box, and a couple other little things. Then use some armor all, black magic, turtle wax tire wet n black. Don't hold the water in one spot too long and don't get too close with it. Don't be afraid to do it. I had to do one hard cleaning on mine and that was this past winter. took some engine brite foam degreaser (walmart) and A LOT of scrubbing. then i painted/polished some random things. heat shield for the hood, iat sensor, egr, dipstick handle haha, alternator, tensioner, timing cover... here are some shots before i armor all'd the black pieces. i'll see if i can get some more recent shots when i get home from work. p.s my car has 70k miles under its belt

I cover the air filter and my alternator with tin foil.

Why? It is a sealed unit. Remember that your engine compartment gets wet all the time if you drive in the rain.
