Gotta get that focus past that damn fence and on the cars!

It was too hard to try and focus on the cars at race speed. It was the best I could get. Next year we will be in the grand stands so I can get better shots. It was still cool be able to get about 10-15 feet from the track with the cars at race speed. They sound sooo much better live then on TV.

Pre set your focus on something near the area the cars are passing you at and then turn off the auto focus so the camera doesn't try to re-adjust the focal point. The F1 cars are so damn fast you can't lock them unless your panning from a good distance away. Presetting the focus you can now just try and shoot a burst when you hear them coming hope for the best as they pass the camera. It's cheating, but it works with the mosquito cars.

it's not a 'high tech' camera, and that fence and turn didn't give me much to work with.
Side note, I was almost hit a few times by beer cans falling from the grand stands.
