Chocolate, so this color change issue was bothering me a bit. I sat down tonite and pretty much nailed down which tools work best in where. I ripped down a high resolution copy of a shot I had some legitimate interest in changing color for. I've posted the original before, and it's a tack sharp picture.
I personally think the resolution made this simple hands down. mainly because the software is not having to guess at pixel ends, or at how the lower res items fade. So the quick way to do these was as follows: Duplicate your original picture, under adjustments select Hue/Saturation, in the new window there's a drop down menu that shows master in it, select the drop down and then select the color closest to your cars color in the original picture (orange falls under reds and yellows, I picked yellows). At the bottom of the same window you will see there's now 3 eyedroppers (called samplers), click the left most one, then click on the car. Now simply slide the hue/saturation slider and you will see the color of the car switching. Pick the color you want and click ok. Flatten the layers and save. That's a global color change for the cars color. For 2 tone, you have no choice but to use a quick mask for the top half, edit color as needed, and then do the bottom half seperately. Much more involved and you will need to be super good with the selection tools as well as hand drawing your two tone dividing line. Here's the results, notice the reflection comes with in the global changes as well: Original First edit: ![]() Second edit

I just found another path (typical of photoshop) to the same result.
Duplicate your original as before, from adjustments menu select 'Replace Color', this opens a new adjustment window like before, only here when you select the initial color the tool is more accurate if you adjust fuzziness to the max setting, and you use the second sampler button with the plus sign next to it to click more areas within the color. What that does is give you several points on the car for the overall color change to occur against. Slight more accurate, certainly a bigger pain in the ass.. Again adjust the hue and saturation sliders, click okay, flatten the image and save. |

Wow emay!
That blue one is sooooooo amazing ![]() Chocolate, if you want, I'd like to see mine with black chromw fr500's. 18" ![]() I can email you the original if you'd like. photobucket makes the pics small ![]() I'd also like to see it in grabber orange ![]() And emay, I recently discovered the photobucket editing stuff. I covered the 2 parking decals I have on my back left bumper with that. I also added some perverse subliminal messaging in that pic (4 things )
