Canon 20D Digital SLR W/ 28-75mm Zoom lens
Is this a decent camera as far as being DSLR? or should I save up for something else?

For a couple pennies more you can get a used 40D or even a new Rebel. I'd pass (but that's my opinion).

For that price I would say pass. I've seen them gripped, extra battery and a few filters.

There's no mention of memory card either, so count on an added expense.

I'm using it for photography. I have had my beginner camera, the finepix s1800, and pretty much mastered it. So now i want to move on to DSLR

The newer rebel line is a good plan then or the 40d.

Key thing is to ask for the shutter count, it's not tracked within the D line until you get into a 50d plus. However, most users can tell you where their file count lands. Anything under 15 to 20k on the shutter count is considered low with lots of life expectancy left on the ticker.

I'd pass on the 20d - and for the record, there is no such thing as mastering a camera or photography. Every single time out there is a learning experience.

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess I'll keep looking until something better pops up. I was gonna buy a DSLR a couple months back but I couldn't pull it off money wise. So maybe real soon I will get one

Holiday season is coming, with that people get upgraded gifts and sell the oldies. It's a good time to play the waiver wire and see what comes about. Guarantee you your posting in here all giddy about something that is twice the camera you expected..

DSLR man, why pin yourself down to film? Mistakes happen, if you at least got close you can at least post process the correction.

Well either way I'm gonna get a DSLR. I just wanted to try out an SLR to see the difference..I like learning new things

Learning is always good, but don't spend any money on it. If you have a buddy that has a SLR and a place where you can develop film, then have fun. Nothing wrong with it, but you'll quickly learn, not being able to see your shots as soon as you take it is a huge advantage you wont want to live without.

Here's a good example (more to be funny, not literal)

Should I get a IPhone / Blackberry, or the Motorola Brick Phone?

Blu's just pointing out the fact that it's silly to consider it when you can avoid the development hassles and missed shot/reshoot capabilities being in a DSLR.

Who developes film anymore anyway?

lol When I found an old Nikon SLR and gave it to my girlfriend she flipped shit with excitement. She loves that camera and can't understand why I want a dslr
