foxbody guy gets a New Edge (first 2v)
I've always been a ford guy, i've had quite a few foxbodies, and even a first gen lightning, but never had a new edge.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Every time i've had a newer car, i've always gone for a ls1, as they're just pretty much absolutely superior in every aspect except for the rear axle. my last ls1 dynoed 405 rwhp cam only and on a 150 shot dynoed 548 hp to the wheels. This time around i decided to go ahead and try the 2v route, mainly just because i've never owned one, and my wife loves the body style. So this is how it looked when i first got it. ![]() ![]() wasnt so much a fan of the stalker body kit, so that came off as quickly as possible. ![]() ![]() the motor supposedly is an 02 GT motor, as i dont know anything about 2v motors i have no idea how to verify this. It runs pretty good, my butt meter says its a mid 14 second car as it sits. I'm planning on getting a set of Jegs sport stars with some sticky drag radials, and a nitrous kit and spraying an 150 shot. i think with a good tune, 4.10s, and the hit, it'll do pretty decent. i'd be happy with some high 11s. really dont have any plans to waste any more money on the 2v. If i end up keeping it for any amount of time i'll probably put a cammed 5.3 in it with a t56. My wife doesnt want me to spend much money on it, she wants me to spend everything i got on our rubicon

Hmmm.... I've seen this car before. On AAS, now I remember. Good choice on trying to sell the body kit. Otherwise its a great looking car. Things are much more expensive on these modular motors, good luck with everything.

I'd go the 5.3/t56 route! I'm kinda biased tho.

yup, i'm on AAS. i havent met very many people on there, just the ppl that go out to TAD (little river dragway). Yeah, i'm going to start saving up for the 5.3/t56 swap. i was actually thinking about getting one of those 3valve aftermarket intake covers and modifying it to fit on top of the 5.3 intake just to really throw people off. LOL. That'll be a while though, for now i'm just going to do the gears and nitrous kit. The 4eye in the drag picture on motor (STOCK 302 with a B cam) and 4.10s with slicks went 12.90s with a 5 speed and 12 flat with a 100 shot. I think that stock 302 was probably pushing around 240-250 hp, which isnt too far away from the 2v although it was a good 750 pounds lighter. it'll be interesting to see what i can get out of the 2v before the 5.3 goes in.

thanks.. just sold most of the stalker kit today. turns out it was a real original cervini's stalker kit, and not an imitation like i had thought. should have asked WAY more then what i sold the sides and rear for. LOL oh well. at least its out of my way, which is the main thing. still got the front bumper to get rid of.
just need to save up a couple more hundred and i'll be getting the Jegs sport stars with some skinnies up front and 325 DR's for the rear. Then i'll be selling the Saleens to fund a nitrous kit and 4.10s and stage 1 will be pretty much complete. Wifey mentioned i might be getting a Mach 1 Lip spoiler for Father's Day which would be pretty cool! |

wont a h/c/i 5.3 make right at or just under 380 rwhp if thats the case why dont you throw a blower on the 2v should be a cheaper route, dont get me wrong i like the idea of a ls motor in a new edge theres a guy on youtube with a turbo lq4 in his 99 the car is nasty but the idea of a dirty cam and power to back it up in a new edge is so much better lol
cute kid btw |

a cam only 5.3 will be around 350-375hp depending on what the cam is, HCI 5.3's will be over 400hp if done right, and they love nitrous so a 600-750 hp ls based motor on spray isnt unreasonable. much better then the 2v which is pretty much proven to be undependable over 400hp. heck, just for what it would cost to buy an intake, cams, longtubes, etc I could easily buy and build a solid LS motor with cam and all. and be way ahead on the power curve and on reliability. heck, you can buy a complete LS1 with t56 transmission for around 2k... thats basically what it would cost to buy cams, intake, tuner and a dynotune. and instead of being at 300-ish hp at best with a 2v, you're starting off with 330-340 hp stock with the ability for 400 with just a cam swap which doesnt cost anywhere near what a 2v cams swap is.
I'm not big on blowers or turbos. I've always been a N/A or Nitrous guy, i just dont like the added maintenance factors. my cars have always been far more reliable then any of my friends that went the forced induction route, and usually my junk was faster regardless. and thanks, yeah my daughter is very cute, and a handful! she's only 3 but thinks she owns the world already.
