Looks good man. How do you strip that shit off the tail lights? I used aceatone

I was thinking of going darker, but I like how the car looks right now:

I actually did NOT strip the lights... The tail lights had 2 coats of VHT and about 4 coats of clear coat in the first two "before pics"... I went out on a limb and lightly sanded the lights with 1500, then sprayed another coat of VHT, then sprayed about 5 coats of clear. (then wetsanded orange peel and buffed)
I took a chance not redoing the entire process for the very beginning, and it actually worked!

If you go any darker than what you have now, i think youll be needing a blackout decklid panel.

Your before pics is the darkness I was looking for. I had them blacked out, I just sanded, buffed, and threw some tint on for now. I liked them blacked out, but I'm afraid I might get a ticket/get rear-ended.

Thanks. I need to go buy some more VHT. I used the last of it making a few light coats, then my clear coat dried WHITE and I had to sand it back off.

World difference! Make sure you go heavy on the clear but not heavy enough for it to run

Is that the shit that all you guys were using that was messing up all your tail lights? Skip the Fusion crap, the Crystal Clear is MUCH better (as you now know) and I've never had it dry anything but clear and glossy. I've never been a fan of any of the Fusions. None of them have much gloss to them.

haha i can go and take some night shots tonight. But at night, light comes through just like it does with stock red lenses.

Ive read reviews on krylon fusion clear, and i think it IS a good clear for actual plastic piecies (like an exbox, or a plastic trim piece...etc) But from experience and a few other stories ive heard, they clear seems to be real shitty on a clear plastic lens
