Hash marks... with a twist

There was a thread about some guy wanting to put hash marks on his car and someone posted pics of hash marks he installed with pin stripes. I never seen that before and thought it looked good. So I got done washing Bertha and remembered I had some pin striping left over from another car I owned from about 6 years back. Thought I'd try it and see what it looked like... I think it looks damn good!

I personally love the hash marks, Like LOVE THEM. The racing stripes being rounded on the edges and not to edge of the hood, I am not sure about.

That's the way they were installed at the dealership before I purchased the car. I never did like it much either and am in the process of having the car restripped in a couple months.

I hate hash marks, but I love your Mustang otherwise. Very well done. I am just not a hash mark fan in the first place... but I love your car. Be interested in seeing more shots of her, including some engine bay shots.

I hate Hash marks myself and any type of pin striping. I think it ruins the look of the car. I do like the racing stripes though but agree they should not have been rounded off on the hood.

Looks awesome. Does anybody know what the significance of the hash marks is? I thought it was something to do with the Lemans series but I honestly don't know.

Hash mark history lesson: The hash marks have Corvette history going back to the early sixties when Corvette was racing. In the 60's, Corvette was racing in the 24 hours of LeMans. They had three cars all blue with a white stripe and they didn't have numbers on them. What they did was, put red duct tape on the left front fender. One strip for car one , two strips for the second car, and three strips for the back up car. They were placed on the left front fender, because when they passed the European judges. The judges saw the red hash marks identifying what car it was. The white stripe and blue paint. The red white and blue American car. The C5-R carried black hash marks in 2001. They carried them on the left front fender
