Best places to take photos

hey guys i've been trying to find a nice place to take pictures of my car, but its hard to find an empty parking lot with a good background.. i mean i could go to schools for an empty parking lot, but then the background is like filled with poles, ugly trees, houses, or the school itself.

I took my other pictures at the bay, but i don't like the pictures as much when i took them on the dirt, i wanna do it in a parking lot. There are plenty of nice places- e.g the beach, but there are ALWAYS full parking lots and a lot of crap in the background.

Any ideas?

ps- i know a lot of people just take them in front of their house but i want a cool background.

I suggest finding a nice large brick wall or maybe a downtown area with some grafitti on a huge concrete wall. Be sure and back away from your car and never take pics with the sun directly overhead. Wait intil the afternoon or early morning before the sun is creating any shadows with buildings, trees, and poles. Try different angles, but one of my favorite is really low, like even with the side skirts of your car point of view. You want your car to be the focus of the picture so be sure the background isn't real "busy" with other goings ons.

For example. I think this is a neat picture but not a great one.

The one in my sig is my favorite so far, but this is how it started out.

With just a little cropping of the pic and then changing the contrast and saturation it comes out to my sig. I just stumbled on that oneday. If you can open pictures with Microsoft picture manager you can do all that.

Take some with some background of your town/city from a high point that over looks everything, and take it at dusk

also like 03 R said, Graffiti makes a nice backdrop, like the mural types

or next to a train

Dude you live in San Diego. Theres gotta be somethin cool like a landmark or maybe an air strip backdrop then post some pics. Of course you could just take one in front of one of your colleges but make sure you got hotties all around!!

I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I'm working on it. My suggestion is to just go driving around town one day. Just explore areas that you don't go to often. I'm sure you'll see something cool that you can stop in front of for five seconds. Most of my best pictures are completely unplanned.

I keep a camera on me all the time though...

Me an a buddy (his car) rode about an hour north from our city and just started looking around.

try to find a way to get some pics with aircraft in the background if u can. pics like that always look pretty cool. i was actually talking to one of my friends yesterday about getting the whole car group together this weekend and going onto my base and taking pics of our cars with the B-1 bomber(out of service) in the background like this pic of my car.

also, its a good idea to get some pics of different angles of your car, for example-

(just make sure u dont have a damn finger in the bottom of the pic like me)

(fixed the finger problem lol)

from an aesthetic standpoint, clean cars make for better pics. great idea to keep your camera on you all the time though. you never know what kinds of things or places you may run into

very true. ive had the same disposable camera in my center console for the last two years probably. i only use it when something really good happens. i used to keep my video camera in the car all the time before it quit working.

good picture but i would suggest staying away from angeled shots... they look cool, but only at a glance they don't capture the attention as much as a normal upright one...

I like old buildings and falling down things, there is a corn silo im gonna shot at once it gets mid spring, also old steel mills, run down places those are fun, stay away from wide open back grounds, like parking lots fields anything distractingly open...

behind buildings in docking bays is also a popular one from time to time...

AND if your going to take night shots make sure you have a tripod
