RK, in manual mode of the camera do you have total control of Aperature, ISO and shutter speed? (not familiar with yours).

Looks like it was light enough to still get a good hand held shot (no tripod) with an iso of about 200-400 if the aperature was stopped to 2.8 or so. If you hadn't tried that, see if it helps.

The other thing your fighting is the crop sensor, if it were full frame - noise would be a non issue. Of course that comes at an entry cost of about 2500 in full framed bodies. Not worth it for us hobbyist photographers..

Yeah, it's a Fuji S5. I work at a portrait studio and it works good for that when using contolled lighting, but not so much when using available light.

The first shots of the DSG cobra were shot at 400 ISO at about 5.6, and I think those look fine as far as digital noise. The noise doesn't start to appear until the shots of both Cobras and then mine. It was so late that I was forced to shoot at 1600 ISO. This was my first time using the S5 and the only reason I even attempted 1600 is because I was told by a few guys I work with that it is fine....well it aint!

I'm going to see if I can get work to buy me a nice 2.8 lens, but like most employers it's like pulling teeth to get them to spend money.

I'm still kind of new at the whole car shot thing, but it's something that I really want to get into more so advice from people like you that have tried different things really means a lot to me.

I think I'll stick to portraits to put food on the table and just do cars for fun for right now
