i need to practice changing up the f stop, maybe shoot more in manual mode instead of tv

i have been shooting at iso 125 constant, maybe i need to go back to auto but i noticed it likes to stay at iso 400 most of the time on auto

don't go auto, you won't learn much from it.. the deep vibrant colors and cool effects come from learning the manual modes via trial and error.

The faster the shutter speed to bluer the sky gets. If I take any daytime sports pics, on bright sunny days I like to shoot between 1/640th to 1/1000th and it looks amazing.

And like Emay said the smaller your f-stop (the larger the number) the more depth of field you have and that means you have a larger area in focus. But the smaller the f-stop the less light gets in which means you have to compensate by adjusting your shutter and ISO. With film you were pretty much just stuck with what ever ISO film you had in the camera and shutter speed was your only other option (other than custom developing), but with digital you now have that extra element of ISO. But be carefull because the higher the ISO you go the 'noisier' (or more grain) you get in your image.

In school they tought us about the Sunny 16 Rule:

On a bright, sunny day you set your f-stop to 16 and try to match your ISO and shutter speed. In other words set your ISO to 200 and your shutter speed to 1/200th (or the next closest speed you have available). This should get you a proper exposure.

And after that just adjust your aperature and shutter speed accordingly. If you feel that you need a faster shutter for action than either open up you aperture to a smaller number or knock the ISO up a notch. Etc.
